Gardaí are continuing to investigate what’s been described as a ‘frightening experience’ in Bagenalstown.
It happened at Chestnut Court, just off the Royal Oak Road, just after 10:30pm last Monday (5th Feb).
Sgt Conor Egan has been telling KCLR News that “The injured party reports that an unknown male wearing all dark clothing, a white face mask, a dark beanie hat and tinted glasses knocked on their door, now when the injured party answer the door this male placed his foot in the doorway before pushing the injured party backwards and entering the house, the male culprit then shouted ‘money’ and we believe it’s with a local accent before they continued to search all the rooms in the property”.
He adds; “A small sum of money then was taken from the property before the culprit left on foot, now we believe that he walked out onto the Royal Oak Road and in the direction of Bagenalstown, back in towards the town itself, now fortunately the injured party in this case, very frightening experience, didn’t suffer any injury but the trauma of you know your house being forced, entry being forced, pushed back and property stolen”.
And Sgt Egan says somebody may have seen something, noting; “Quarter to eleven bank holiday Monday night, Royal Oak Road, there would be passing traffic there, taxis, anybody in the estate, it happened in the Chestnut Court Estate there in Bagenalstown, CCTV, dashcam, doorbell cam, our colleagues in Bagenalstown would really appeal for any information on this to contact them there”.
