Man who died in road collision near Paulstown is named

The man who died in a crash in Kilkenny this morning has been named locally as Michael Conlon.

The Thomastown man died when his car collided with a truck at Paulstown shortly before 8am.

At about 7.30am this morning, a car and a truck collided at Garryduff near Paulstown.

GardaĆ­ and two ambulances responded within minutes.

50-year-old, Michael Conlon, who was driving the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck driver was taken to St. Luke’s General Hospital but his injuries are non life threatening.

Michael was a member of the maintenance staff at Grennan College in Thomastown.

The school have contacted parents to say that their community “is in mourning” at Michael’s passing and their “thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.”

The road at Garryduff is currently closed pending an examination of the area by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.
