A local food producer says Brexit has already caused a “whole world of pain”.
Brian Seery of Seery’s Bakery in Tinryland says that almost immediately after the referendum passed last year, they began to feel the effects.
Seery’s supply high-end cakes and puddings to the likes of Aldi, Lidl, Supervalu, Tesco and Waitrose over in the UK.
He says that straight away they became 15% more expensive than they had been, while the sterling they were being paid by their customers was worth 15% less.
Speaking to KCLR’s The Way It Is this week, Brian says they’re already looking at other markets.
