Monday July 26th is the planned re-opening day for indoor dining.
Leo Varadkar has said that’s the day Government hopes indoor hospitality will be able to resume for the first time this year.
The Tánaiste has said work is under way to finalise the guidelines for that re-opening.
Meanwhile, a local TD has accused the Health Minister of disrespecting the people of Carlow and Kilkenny by not addressing their legitimate concerns in the Dáil.
John Paul Phelan didn’t vote on Wednesday night on the bill to allow the return of indoor dining for those fully vaccinated or recovered from Covid.
He says he asked Minister Stephen Donnelly questions that had been raised with him by his constituents but didn’t stay to vote because he didn’t get answers.
Deputy Phelan says this is the first time he has ever walked out before a vote in the Dáil but he says he felt he had to take the action on behalf of people who are not being catered for because they cannot get a vaccination.
