“More severe damage or injury could have been caused” in early morning Carlow town fire

Residents of a Carlow town apartment were lucky to escape a fire without injury or severe damage.

One was woken by a fire alarm just after 2 o’clock on Sunday morning.

Garda Noelle Curran told KCLR News; “They found papers on fire inside the letterbox, now fortunately they were able to extinguish it, using a fire extinguisher were able to make it safe, some damage was caused to the carpet inside the door”.

She adds; “Gardaí in Carlow are seeking assistance of any persons seen acting suspiciously around the area, the Castle Street area, or any similar incidents perhaps on Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday morning, severe damage or injury could have been caused to persons here”.
