40 motorists were issued tickets for speeding in Carlow and Kilkenny as part of National Slow Down day.
An extensive operation took place in both counties with an increased visibility of policing presence.
Two arrests for drink/drug driving were made locally, one in each county.
One motorist was clocked doing 174km/h on the M9 at Paulstown, another was travelling at 104km/h in a 60 zone in Piltown. In Chapel Street, Graiguecullen somebody was noted moving at 77kk/h where there was a 50km limit while in a similar stretch in Johnstown another was found to be 86km/h. And on the N25 in Waterford, a driver was doing 170km/h.
