Mullinavat locals catch armed raider

Brave locals helped catch an armed robber in South Kilkenny this afternoon.

A man armed with a handgun raided the Post office in Mullinavat at about 12:30.

He fled the scene on foot with a substantial amount of cash but a number of brave locals gave chase and caught the thief.

The money has been recovered and a foreign National in his 20s has been taken to Thomastown Garda Station for questioning.

Gardai are appealing for anyone who might have seen anything in the Mullinavat area between 10 and 12pm to ring the station on 056-7754150.
