Nearly half a million euro in parking charges collected in St Lukes in 2016

St Lukes hospital collected nearly half a million euro in car parking fees last year.

Figures provided by the HSE show hospital car parks around the country charged more than €19.2 million in parking fees in 2016.

St Lukes in Kilkenny collected €497,887 euro while University Hospital Waterford collected €1.5 million.

A HSE spokesperson says the charges were introduced as part of a series of measures to ensure the cost of providing of such services was not taken from the hospital’s operating budget.
