New Columbarium wall in Carlow will not disturb existing places of rest

Assurances have been given that a new Columbarium wall in St Mary’s Cemetery will not disturb existing places of rest.

After being approached by institutional survivors, elected members raised concerns at their monthly meeting that the new wall, already under construction for the past two weeks, would be located over unmarked graves.

Councillor Andrea Dalton was among those to raise the issue:

“There was concerns and just looking for clarity that those concerns were addressed and our engineer Orla confirmed that for certainty there are no unmarked graves, marked or unmarked, in the vicinity of the columbarium wall”.
