A new 100 bed community nursing unit which serves South Kilkenny and Waterford is to be developed on the grounds of St Patrick’s Hospital in Waterford.
Full planning permission has been granted for the project which will cost €19.38 million and full funding has been provided for as part of the HSE’s 2016-21 capital plan.
The proposed unit will comprise of two households of 30 beds and two of 20 beds in addition to a patient roof terrace, courtyard and gardens, a production kitchen and community spaces.
It’s expected to take 20 months to build and will be fully open by early 2019.
