New Mayor of Carlow to be elected today

Councillors in Carlow will elect a new Mayor today.

John Pender finishes his term – he was the first elected to the role since the town council was abolished last year.

A special meeting to vote in his replacement and a new Deputy will take place in Carlow this afternoon and its understood a Sinn Fein Councillor is in line to take the chain.

Councillor Pender says this year was a learning curve but he enjoyed it.
