New Suicide Bereavement Officer for South East says the first call can be the most difficult

The new Suicide Bereavement Officer for the South East says the hardest step for people can be that first telephone call.

Pauline Lawlor is part of the team at Pieta House’s new centre based in Wexford which opened earlier this summer.

Her role covers all of Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and part of Tipperary where she provides one-to-one support, as well as travelling to visit families affected.

Speaking to KCLR News, Pauline says it’s important for people just to know they’re there to help.

Its official launch will take place in the coming months (Oct 18th) but Pauline told KCLR News they’ve already seen a steady stream of people calling them.

Pieta House Wexford can be contacted on 053 9122787 or the Free Helpline number is 1800 247 247.
