Tullow is being described as the “envy” of many towns across the country due to its upgraded wastewater infrastructure and growing housing capacity.
Carlow Councillor Ben Ward says the improvements now allow for development to support more than 9,000 residents, with new planning applications and expanded land zoning expected to boost housing delivery.
He made calls at the latest plenary meeting to ensure new proposals would have a strong mix of private, affordable and social housing as the town continues to grow.
Cllr Ward told KCLR News; “We’re doing anything we can to put all the right things in place to allow that to happen so whether that be the zoning, they have the facilities and the back-up that they need whether that be wastewater, electricity etc to get the houses built and I suppose then it’s up to the developers to come i, but we’re putting all the right things in place, the building blocks I’d say, in place for them to come in”.
