A Council engineer says local authorities can’t act as “police men” at schools where parents are parking irresponsibly.
Liam Fitzgerald of Carlow County Council says a lot of people park without any respect for the local school community.
He was speaking as he presented the findings of a major study on the need for school wardens in county Carlow.
The results of the assessment show pedestrian crossings are also being recommended at a number of local schools.
Intervention from the Council is needed at Ballinabranna NS, Our Lady’s NS in Nurney and Rathoe NS.
