Parents of school children in Carlow and Kilkenny are being urged to get more information on head lice.

The advice comes amid warnings of an outbreak – which has become almost immune to treatment.

According to the Journal of Medical Entomology; chemicals being used to fight the so called ‘super lice’ aren’t strong enough.
