Fine Gael TD Pat Deering says that Post Offices are central to development and networking in rural Ireland.
His comments come after a report by KPMG revealed that 700 post offices across the country are in danger of closing down.
There are currently 1300 post offices in Ireland, but if this goes ahead the number of them still operating would be more than halved.
Speaking to KCLR news, Deputy Deering says there’s room for improvement within the services.
