Phone scammers targeting Kilkenny people

You’re being warned to watch out for scammers going through the phone book in Kilkenny.

Two women got calls on Tuesday afternoon to their landlines from people claiming to be from Revenue.

They tried to make out that the women owed money and tried to get more information from them.

In one case, they left a phone number to be called aback but it turned out to be a foreign number.

Both people’s surname started with the letter D so it seems like the scammers are working their way through the local phone book and may be targeting people specifically.

Sgt Peter McConnon is warning you not to fall for these dangerous calls.
