As the finishing touches are being put in place in St Mary’s Church – soon to become the Medieval Mile Museum – we took a tour of the church and grounds.
First built in c.1205, there have been a number of different religious structures on the site of St Mary’s.
However, after it fell out of use in the 1940s/50s, it was de-consecrated around 1957.
The Medieval Mile Museum is due to open its doors to the public at the end of February.
Ahead of that, we took a look at the work being carried out there and a full recording with Project Manager, Evelyn Graham can be heard on Monday’s KCLR Live (10am-12 noon), with a longer piece going out on Tuesday’s ‘The Way It Is’ (6pm-7pm).
