The Psychiatric Nurses Association says the treatment of residents at Aras Attracta was deeply disturbing, totally unacceptable and has no place in professional nursing practice.
In a statement, it says the incidents caught on camera would shock and disturb the many thousands of nurses working in Ireland.
PNA General Secretary, Carlow man Des Kavanagh says all nurses must answer for their adherence, or not, to professional standards and carry the consequences for breaching those standards.
