Primary teachers leaving the country over pay inequality, says local INTO representative

Local primary teachers are leaving the country over ongoing pay inequality.
The INTO representative for Carlow and Kilkenny, Joe McKeown, says that’s the main reason his union has rejected the new public service pay agreement negotiated last month.
They voted 89% against the agreement which they say failed to do away with the pay system that sees teachers hired after 2012 earning 10% less.
Speaking to KCLR News, Joe says he’s seen the effect of this across Carlow and Kilkenny.
