The revised housing delivery targets outlined by Kilkenny County Council this week cannot be achieved in isolation.
.We heard earlier this week how close to 1,000 new homes need to be delivered by the local authority each year for the foreseeable.
Acknowleding the progress made in recent years, Noel Sherry of the Good Shepherd Centre told KCLR News that several areas across the county would require additional infrastructure to meet the expanded target of new builds, noting; “Already we know areas of Paulstown, Bennettsbridge, for example, it’s going to be at least another 18 months before there is sufficient infrastructure put in place so there’s a lot of challenges that are going to hamper this, now they’re not the responsibility of the county council to resolve, they are the responsibility of Government to resource the ESB and Irish Water”.
