Rising construction costs blamed for Carlow Council dropping nearly half of its planned social housing at a county development

Rising construction costs have forced Carlow County Council to drop nearly half of its planned social housing units at a new Tullow development.

The local authority confirmed that only 26 of the 48 houses at Foran’s Way on the Carlow Road will be kept for social housing.

The remaining 22 properties have already been diverted onto the private market to offset building costs.
