Road users in Kilkenny City can expect further traffic delays next week.
Central Access Scheme works that were supposed to be finished up on Vicar Street yesterday, will now continue until at least next Friday.
Since Monday of this week, Vicar Street has been completely closed to traffic – causing heavy delays in and out of the city.
The works being carried out are part of the Central Access Scheme.
Fox Contractors are in the process of constructing improved road and pedestrian paths and are also upgrading existing infrastructure like the ESB, water, drainage and communications networks.
The work had been due to finish up yesterday but that’s now been extended by a week.
Kilkenny County Council say that they hope to have the road open to through traffic by this coming Friday.
A leaflet is being distributed to residents and businesses on Vicar Street advising them of this.
