It really has a been a sad week in many ways. As I write 86 year old Mary Nolan is in intensive care, her family by her side at St Lukes Hospital. Mary who had lived an independent life was the victim of a mugging close to her home last Tuesday. A man has been charged with robbery of her purse. Fr Benignus Buckley poignantly described Mary on the show yesterday and you can hear that intrview on the “highlights” section of The Sue Nunn Show page. We wish Mary and her family well and hope that she pulls through. Her fellow Massgoers in the Friary are storming heaven for her recovery.
Meanwhile in Carlow Stephen Cahill finally caught up with his son Tony. Tony is a chronic alcoholic and has been missing for months. His brother James drowned in a tragic accident in Wexford ten days ago and his Dad was frantically trying to get in touch with Tony to let him know about his brother. The PSNI finally found him and sent him back home. Tony has been in prison ten times, knocked down and beaten up on numerous occasions. His Dad wants to have him committed for psychiatric care but can not get the health services to agree. Tony wanders from place to place collecting his disability allowance and all on free travel. You can hear Stephen here.
But then of course we found a wedding dress for a bride to be and a lost hurl in Thomastown for a three year old- how bad was was that!
