Sustainability is high on the agenda at Savour Kilkenny Food Festival this year as its 16th offering’s official launch kicks off later.
There are 80 events in the planning for the October bank holiday weekend with a host of stalls setting up yet again in the city centre.
Close to 60,000 turned out last year and the hopes are high that similar, if not more, people will attend.
Festival Director Marian Flannery says they’re moving to being even more environmentally friendly this year, telling KCLR News; “We have a number of new actions this year, we’re going to be segregating our waste as we always do into green, brown and black bins but with an increased effort this year to get all that food waste into the compostable waste food bins which will be plentiful around the site, we also have the to-go cups deposit and return scheme for your coffee cup”.
