Separate assaults in Kilkenny city being investigated

Gardaí are looking for witnesses to an assault on a man in Kilkenny the early hours of yesterday morning.

It happened on Chapel lane at around 3.15 on Tuesday morning and anyone who was in that area which leads onto the Market Cross Shopping Centre is asked to contact the Gardai.

Meanwhile in a separate incident on Saturday night a man was hospitalised after he was punched in the face after being approached by a gang on Maudlin Street.

That happened shortly before midnight on St Patricks night and Garda Ralph Holmes says someone will have witnessed that incident.
