The South East Technological University’s hosting over 40 events across its three campuses as part of N-TUTORR Week.
The ambitious national project across the TU sector sees over €40million of funding from the EU available to support transforming teaching, learning and assessment.
Each of the events for this week aligns with one or more of the key project themes including Education for Sustainable Development (ESD); Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI); digital transformation; and student employability.
Ken McCarthy, N-TUTORR Institutional Lead said; “Thanks to both staff and student organisers, we have an exciting schedule, with events taking place online and in person right across the university.
“The week is the first of its kind in the technological higher education sector and promises to be a great week of opportunities for both our students and staff.”
Today (Wednesday, 28 February) offerings range from sustainability in action: co-creation of a native Irish tree hedgerow at the SETU West Campus in Carriganore, Waterford, EDI at the heart of humanities, a day-long showcase event on the Kilkenny Road Campus in Carlow to a swap and repair workshop at the Summerhill Campus in Wexford.
Others include a cultural food festival at the Summerhill Road Campus in Wexford and a lunchtime concert entitled ‘The Sound of Inclusivity’ at the College Street Campus Chapel in Waterford. The Asian lantern festival on bridging cultures and advancing equality in higher education event, which takes place on the Cork Road Campus in Waterford, promises to be another highlight of the week.
SETU’s Wexford campus will also host the Business of Biodiversity workshop tomorrow (Thursday, 29 February). While further events in the area of humanities will be held on topics such as trauma-informed practice (Carlow campus on 29 February) and the Early Childhood Education for Sustainable Development Conference at Newbay House in Wexford on Friday, 1 March.
The week concludes on Friday with the N-TUTORR on Track event finishing on the Cork Road campus. This event will see Dr Tom Farrelly from MTU and N-TUTORR Student Champions using sustainable transport to visit five cities and five universities during the five days of N-TUTORR Week.
