A section of the Abbey Quarter site in Kilkenny city is reportedly being brought to market with a guide price of €1.5million.
The Irish Times says it may interest investors looking for an opportunity to develop a hotel.
Kilkenny County Council had bought the site and with the National Treasury Management Agency formed the Kilkenny Abbey Quarter Development Partnership to undertake the development of the building plots.
To date, the former Mayfair Ballroom has been transformed into the Mayfair Library, two teahouses have been restored, with a public park along the site’s boundary with the River Nore and skatepark installed.
A new urban street has yet to go in and plans for a hotel there have yet to be progressed.
Now it seems the net’s been cast to see if a hotel developer is willing to take up the baton on that.
