A new section of the South East Greenway has had a soft opening between Ferrybank and Curraghmore, allowing public access ahead of full completion.
Kilkenny County Councillor senior engineer Frank Stafford says the 6km stretch links Curraghmore through to Ferrybank and provides onward access to the North Quays network.
He says the opening marks a key milestone, with 14 of the 24 kilometres of the Greenway now complete as works continue towards New Ross. “It’s a great day, and look, it’s a partnership, we’re working with Wexford and Waterford on this, Wexford are the lead authority, so no, it’s, it’s great, and I’ve engaged with a lot of the adjoining landowners along this section of Greenway, and I’m sure they’re delighted to see it opened.”
“I have to say people were very supportive down there in South Kilkenny, and the elected members were very supportive and patient because they were anxious to have it opened also.”
