Iarnród Éireann has assured South Kilkenny County Councillors that there will be 200 dedicated car parking spaces and 50 set down spaces at the new Waterford Railway Station which is due to open in Ferrybank next year.
A statement confirming the parking spaces, which will also include 30 spaces for bicycles, was shared with Councillors at the Piltown Municipal District’s June meeting.
In response to this news, Fine Gael Councillor Pat Dunphy welcomed the clarification, albeit with some reservation telling KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes; “I’d have to see it, I think, they’re after telling us that, if it was 200 it’d be about 50 more than is there currently at the train station; it would help, there’s no doubt about that, but nobody can see where they’re going to be or can see a development, If it is 200 and 50 set-down spaces it’s better than we what we thought it was but we have to wait and see”.
