Frustration is growing over continued delays to the opening of the South East Greenway despite most of the route being completed.
The topic arose at yesterday afternoon’s Piltown Municipal District monthly meeting where councillors heard a key stretch from Ferrybank to Curraghmore is effectively ready but remains closed due to ongoing holdups to final works and handover by the contractors.
Locals and visitors have expressed annoyance, some already using the route unofficially while nearby businesses are feeling the impact of repeated missed opening deadlines.
