Students travelling on J1 visas may be entitled to hundreds of euros in back taxes

It’s emerged that local students may be entitled to over €700 in back-taxes if they travelled to the US on a J1 working visa.

That’s according to www.taxback.com, who have revealed that anyone who has availed of the visa over the last four years is owed a tax refund.

It’s worth $800 dollars, which amounts to €740, but will depend on individual circumstances such as the type of work carried out and the length of time worked.

Eileen Devereux is from Taxback.com, she told KCLR news that people aren’t aware of their money-back entitlement.
