Taxi stolen as driver responds to breakdown call-out on the motorway

Gardaí have now tracked down a Taxi stolen on the M9 motorway this morning.

The taxi driver was responding to a call out to pick up someone whose car had broken down somewhere near Bagenalstown but when he arrived there they took his car.

The car is described as a white Renault Megane estate with a 171 D registration with a taxi sign on the rear of its roof.

The culprit is understood to have fled down the M9 in the direction of Kilkenny.

Gardaí say the car was since found abandoned in O’ Loughlin court in Kilkenny. No arrests have been made.

They are appealing for anyone with information to contact Kilkenny or Carlow Gardaí.
