The Farm Show – Sponsored by glanbiaconnect.com – 7/3/2019

On tonight’s programme we heard from Alan Jago, the newly appointed chairman of Agri Aware, the food promotions body. He spoke about their new promotional initiatives, in particular a schools based programme, aimed at increasing awareness of food production in this country.
We were joined in studio by Eric Driver of Tullow Mart, who spoke with Matt about the potential to market Irish suckler beef under a defined geographical location. He also discussed the potential of developing more producer groups in the beef sector, especially around marketing.
Olwyn Owens, a beef and tillage farmer based on the Carlow/Kildare border, joined on the phone and spoke to Matt about her career as a farmer.
Richard O’Brien of Teagasc gave advice on how to cater for colder and wetter weather conditions.
We had the weekly Farm Diary sponsored by Tullow Mart, their own Mart Report from Tuesday last with Eric Driver and George Candler joined us from Kilkenny Mart to give the Kilkenny Mart Report.
