The former Bank of Ireland building on Market Street, Thomastown, has been given approval for transformation into a Centre of Excellence for Ceramics.
The project will involve restoring the historic structure, including refurbishing windows, doors, roof, and ceilings, and updating the building’s façade.
Minor internal changes will be made to suit the new purpose, while the rear extension will be altered with a new pitched roof and high-performance glazing. Additionally, two external sheds will be replaced with a modern storage and processing structure, connected by a covered walkway and a new pedestrian entrance.
The redevelopment is expected to foster growth in the ceramics industry and enhance Thomastown’s cultural heritage.
