Three more candidates have entered the race in the Carlow Kilkenny constituency.
Independent Noel G Walsh from Kilkenny city, while Cork business man John O’Leary has also declared as an Independent and David Egan from Johnstown, Bennekerry in Carlow is running for Liberty Republic.
Independent Michael McGrath who’d outlined his intention to run last month is so far not on the official list of those who’ve declared.
But the deadline to declare is tomorrow with withdrawals allowed until Monday.
So as it stands there are 20 declared candidates across the two counties – five Independents, three each for Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael, two for Sinn Féin, one each for the Greens, Labour, Social Democrats, People Before Profit, Aontu, Liberty Republic and the Irish Freedom Party.
Added to that Sinn Féin last night confirmed it’s picked Kilkenny man Evan Barry to run in Tipperary North alongside party colleague Dan Harty.
