A €4.5 million support payment is being rolled out to milk suppliers by dairy co-op Tirlán, as farmers continue to face falling milk prices.
The payment is part of a wider €5.5 million package and comes in the form of refunds on animal feed and milk replacer purchased earlier this year.
With many farmers currently producing at a loss, the measure is being welcomed as a vital short-term boost to help ease ongoing cash flow pressures across the sector.
