Water mains being replaced on the Waterford Road caused traffic chaos this morning.
A stop and go system will be in place along the ring road between two roundabouts on the Waterford Road near the Springhill Court hotel throughout the day until 6.30 this evening. The works will also continue at night tomorrow and Wednesday to minimise water disruption.
Meanwhile, traffic restrictions will hit the eastern side of the new Central Access Scheme bridge from tomorrow morning. The works which were due to start in Kilkenny city today, were pushed back by one day until tomorrow.
Some residents living in the Michael Street and Wolfe Tone Street areas say they received no notification that works were due to commence. However, Kilkenny County Council says the contractor in charge of the works hand delivered letters to homes in the vicinity of the works.
