The chairperson of Tullow Rugby Football Club has called on representatives from Carlow sports clubs to apply for the Texaco support for sports initiative, ahead of the deadline for applications on the 31st of January.
The initiative sees over €500,000 dispersed annually between numerous sporting groups in different communities around the country, with roughly €15,000 coming to Carlow since the initiative’s inception.
A key factor that the awarding panel look for in submissions, is a club’s level of engagement with the wider community.
Tullow Rugby Football club received the funding in 2024, following on from Bagenalstown Swimming Club in 2021, and Bennekerry’s Palatine GAA Club in 2022.
In each case, the clubs received €5,000, which has been spent on a variety of different projects.
In the case of Tullow RFC, Chairperson Robin Johnson noted that the application was “a very simple process”, and that “for us to be successful, it meant that we could recondition all our showers, and just renew them” adding that it “was a massive, massive help to Tullow Rugby Club.”
Interested prospective applicants are invited to head to www.TexacoSupportforSport.com for further information.
