Two people have been arrested following the discovery of firearms, ammunition and a replica grenade.
All were found during the search of a residential property close to Baltinglass yesterday (Monday, 4th May) as part of ongoing investigations.
The Armed Support Unit aided Gardaí from Baltinglass and Bray in the haul recovery which includes two semi automatic pistols – all of the items will undergo technical and ballistic analysis.
The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service also attended – a cordon was put in place for a time but the area’s since been declared safe.
A man aged in his thirties and a woman in her late twenties were arrested at the scene and have been detained at a Garda station in Wicklow under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939.
