A woman who fled the war in Ukraine over 2.5 years ago says Ukrainians are “heartbroken and destroyed” by the ongoing conflict. Yuliia, who settled in Carlow with her children, aged 5, 8, and 13, was reacting to the recent meeting between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump at the White House.
Yuliia described the encounter as “bullying” and expressed deep concerns about the potential consequences for global peace if Russia is allowed to win the war.
She believes that no stronger nation should be able to simply erase another, as it sets a dangerous precedent where neighbors could attack one another without consequence.
Speaking to KCLR, Yuliia explained that, while Ukrainians once lived in fear, many no longer feel worry, as they continue to resist the Russian invasion.
However, she remains fearful for the future of Ukraine and the wider world if the conflict goes unchallenged.
