It won’t be long before a child is seriously injured by broken glass from drink bottles in Bagenalstown Park.

That’s according to local councillors who say anti-social behaviour is getting “out of hand” in parks around the county.

It was discussed at this month’s Council meeting after a teenager apparently had his arm broken by other youths recently in Bagenalstown Park.

Councillor Andy Gladney says drinking and loitering in the park have also become a huge issue and people are being intimidated by groups of teenagers.

Speaking to KCLR, Councillor Gladney says he’s tried to approach them a number of times.

Meanwhile, Graiguecullen-based Senator Jennifer Murnane O’Connor says that Carlow Town park also has huge problems with anti-social behaviour.

She told KCLR Live this morning that people are afraid to go there.
