It was a memorable weekend for Carlow football, with success for both the men’s and ladies’ teams.
On Saturday, Carlow’s senior footballers claimed their first major title in 80 years by lifting the Allianz Football League Division 4 trophy at Croke Park.
Not to be outdone, the Carlow ladies secured promotion to Division 3 of the Lidl Ladies National Football League for 2027 with an impressive win over Offaly yesterday.
The result not only guarantees promotion, but also sets up a league final meeting with Leitrim on April 12th.
Speaking to KCLR after the game, Clíodhna Ní Shé said it took a big effort, particularly in the second half.
“We were absolutely wrecked in the second half, there was a really strong wind. We put up a good performance in the first half and got ahead, but we knew it was going to be nip and tuck in the second half. Offaly really came at us. We dug deep, especially the backs. Delighted to be back in Division 3 next year and we’re excited to go for the final.”
