Despite extra train carriages coming on stream soon in Carlow, car parking at the local train station remains a big issue.
That’s according to Fianna Fail TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, who says that plans are afoot to acquire extra land to alleviate the problem.
Car parking at the local amenity has long been an issue, with local commuters often complaining about the lack of spaces to park when they are using the train to commute to work.
Deputy Murnane O’Connor says that she has been liaising with Carlow County Council on the issue and she told KCLR News; “They have been looking at a piece of land and I know they’re working really hard on that but I just feel now that because of all the things that’s happening with the trains and the extra carriages that we need to address this now”.
And she adds; “They give a great service and I want to compliment everyone involved up at the Carlow Railway Station, they do a great job, but we need to now have the proper infrastructure there for car parking spaces”.
