Ireland will not achieve its 2030 renewable energy targets without a workable pathway for community and small farmer-led wind projects: that was the message relayed to delegates at the Irish Wind Farm Association’s (IWFA) annual conference held in Kilkenny.
Over 100 members and sector stakeholders assembled at the Lyrath Estate Hotel this morning for their annual conference which was themed: ‘Accelerating Renewables to 2030’.
A range of speakers addressed the spectrum of issues facing existing and prospective wind farmers, including the need to streamline the planning process, noise mitigation and how the potential of future renewable energy can be unlocked.
As the conference got underway, KCLR News’ Dermot Keyes spoke to IWFA Chairperson Richard Walshe and IWFA Executive member Paddy Phelan about the current challenges facing the sector and what lies beyond 2030.
