‘Women in sport are more respected now’, says local kickboxing club owner

The owner of a local Kickboxing club believes that great change is on the horizon for women in sport.

Larry Brennan, who founded Larry’s Kickboxing club in Carlow, was speaking following the news that his club is in the running against 4 others to win best sports club in Ireland.

The diversity of its members in terms of background, ability and gender is given as one of the reasons the club is in the final 5.

Speaking to KCLR, Larry said that there was a time when women would have been laughed at in the martial arts world, but that this is changing fast.
