Work’s underway to try alleviate congestion in Ferrybank as the North Quays project progresses.
A traffic management plan in the area was recently rejigged – the free flow lane from Abbey Road onto Fountain Street was closed as was the bus lane from Fountain Street towards Rice Bridge and this appears to have been proving problematic especially in the mornings during school hours.
Piltown Municipal District Meeting yesterday heard some good news as Senior Roads Engineer Stan Cullen outlined to KCLR News; “Essentially under the scheme there’ll be a relocation of the Abbey Road where it meets Fountain Street, so what they’re doing at present is creating the base for that new road and that work will be coming to a completion now in the next fortnight or so”.
