Works on the Ferrymountgarret Bridge continue to remain on target to reopen the route to traffic at the end of this month.
Amid a level of some confusion which was circulating, Kilkenny County Council undertook to provide a weekly update on the project via KCLR News and the latest outlines how the historic structure is emerging from its cocoon with repaired steel works and painting complete above deck.
The removal of scaffolding has commenced, and the installation of waterproofing will take place next week followed by road surface reinstatement.
They say “Seeing the steelwork in all its glory is, for many, like welcoming back an old friend.”
The 28th of August has been slated as the end of the closure with a traffic management system in place after that date until all remaining works are completed – this is expected to take approximately one month.
