Works to start on developing Altamont House into tourist facility

Works are finally going to start in earnest on developing Altamont House into a place for visitors to the Gardens to go.

That’s according to Carlow TD Pat Deering who says that Altamont is the jewel in the crown of Carlow.

He held a meeting with the OPW, who run the house and gardens, along with Carlow County Council and Carlow Tourism yesterday to discuss plans for the building.

Speaking to KCLR News this morning, Deputy Deering says they’re now going to start working on making it into tea rooms for visitors.
