With 13 assault cases in the past week alone, local Gardaí are urging people to stop and think before you hit someone.
Sergeant Peter McConnon says that of those 13 cases in Carlow and Kilkenny that they’re investigating, seven of them involved someone being badly injured.
Last year An Garda Síochána launched their ‘Use your brain, not your fists’ campaign to try and reduce the number of assaults in Ireland.
Sergeant McConnon says an assault can have a lasting effect on both the victim and culprit.
